The Sydney Spinners and Handweavers Guild was established in the 1970s and has a small but faithful membership. The guild gained some notoriety for its two yearly calendars, produced in 1996 and 1997, which were highlighted in the Ontario Handweavers & Spinners guild newsletter. Hundreds of the calendars sold in Canada, the U.S. and around the world.

The Sydney weavers meet the second week of every month but July and August, on alternating Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 until everyone gets tired and goes home. The date of the next meeting can be learned by contacting Janet Dawson or guild president Donna Tatlock.
